My journey started the day I grabbed the Wicked books when I went the movies with Bella and another one of our best friends to see Blades of Glory, but saw Disturbia instead (which I am still kinda mad about since I was forced to watch it)... well was mad about... 'cause if we wouldn't have seen Disturbia we wouldn't have gone to Barnes and Noble (we went 'cause we had extra time to spare before the movie), and I wouldn't have gotten the books... with those two books is where this whole journey started for me, but the journey for me with Bella started the night of her school's extremely boring homecoming dance...
We had gone to Starbucks, and I got a pumpkin spice latte(: We walked out of Starbucks and I started thinking about how Bella was telling me in the car on our way to Starbucks, that she was reading these books that were about witches, but she wouldn't elaborate on it (now i know it's becuase she thought I would think she was weird and she wass still quite timid about the subject of witches for a while even after we established that we both want to study the craft). I tried probing it out of her until finally we were outside of Starbucks, and I remember it was dark and we looked like as though we were draped in a blanket of shadows and I asked Bella about the books and she finally said that she was into the witchstuff and i was like YESSS! so it's not only me and from there it just set off like wildfire...
When Bella First Found Out...
My journey began one day when I went to Barnes & Noble, (because I'd run out of books to read) and came across this series of books called Sweep by Cate Tiernan. I have always been a fan of the supernatural and such and I read the backs of the books and I was immediatly intrigued and bought the first 6 books (they only had 1-6 at the store) of the series that day. I started reading that day and within the next month (it took that long to read them cause amazon.com took forever to deliver them!) I had read the entire series which consisted of 13 books. I was absolutely captivated by these books. I had also developed an interest in Wicca (which is very important in the book) but told no one because I thought they would think I was a freak. Then, as Zaylee said, after my extremely boring homecoming dance that we'd ditched, we both confessed to each other of our intrest in The Craft. It felt so liberating to finally tell someone! And then to have her not only accept my curiosity in this unconventional religion, but to have her understand was so relieving and exciting! I didn't feel crazy anymore for wanting to be a part of Wicca. Then, I got her to read Sweep too, and she was also enthralled by the amazing series (which I strongly reccommend, Wiccan or not). After a couple of months of researching on the computer and deciding that studying Wicca was something I knew I wanted, I told my mom and brother. At first, my mom was really cool about it. I could tell that she was definetly skeptic but she saw how important to me it was, and how happy I'd become and so she took me and Zaylee to B&N to buy some books on The Craft. I was so completely ecstatic! I was terrified of what her reaction would be and now she'd accepted it. I couldn't be any happier... until she told me what she really thought. After a couple weeks, her and my brother made some negative comments and I decided I wasn't going to put up with it anymore, and so I told my mom I was no longer intrested in it (which, of course was a lie). During the last 8 months I've tried to convince myself that my mother was right. I tried involving myself in other religions that she'd be accepting of and content with, but just a few weeks ago I realized that I couldn't keep lying to myself. Wicca is a part of me. I don't care who likes it and who doesn't. I can't change it; I won't change it.
... Then, Zaylee had the idea of a blog... and here we are :)
