Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games by Of Montreal

Zaylee here. I would like to say that I am really happy :D!!! I told my other best friend, about me and Wicca. I've known her for a year and a half now, but the amount of time we've known each other is insignificant. We're extremely close, and I feel like an idiot for not telling her before!! I love her with all my heart and soul. She's awesome.

Let me start my little story by saying that I told two other people before I told the person I am closest with; it was too hard for me to tell her. I love her so, so much, and I was too scared I would lose a friend like her. I need her in my life. She is my pizza :). Not my french fries (Inside joke between us, lol).  She has always been here for me, and she always deals with me and my hissy fits (I can get quite annoying). Ahhh. Ok...I have to stop drifting here.  She slept over my house for the first time. It was 2:00 A.M., and we were hungry and ended up sitting on my counter eating taquitos. Damn those were so good (good lord i should be checked for ADD).  So as we sat upon the countertop we were talking to each other like we always do... as best friends all honest and sincere.  So, I decided that it was time for me to tell her I... just wasn't sure how to say it.  It's not that easy to tell someone your deepest, most personal secret.  You never know how they are going to react.  Are they going to be scared, laugh, stare at you and call you a freak, leave you desolate on the countertop with your taquitos?  It sounds funny, but it's true.  No one wants to be rejected by someone they love. At first, when I said I needed to tell her something important about myself she started guessing. She was so scared! She guessed a number of things from my sexual orientation, if I'd killed someone, if I worshipped the Devil. Then, I just spit it out. I told her of my interest in Wicca: an earth based religion that worships the Goddess and the God. I told her everything about it, I showed her this blog. She handled it so much better than I could have ever dreamed she would! She was so curious, so eager to learn about Wicca. She saw how important to me it was, and she more than accepted that it was a part of me. She chastised me when she found out I'd told my two other friends before I told her! I loved her so much in that moment. I wasn't going to lose my best friend. She still loved me, despite what I just told her. It was like the weight of the world had been lifted off of my shoulders. I had imagined a number of adjectives that she would use to describe Wicca, but the one I was not expecting was cool.

The lesson I learned is that if you're ever scared of telling someone something you think they'll disapprove of, no matter how scared you are, just go for it. It can only go two ways; either you'll realize they weren't the person you thought they were, or you'll be so extremely ecstatic to be blessed with yet another amazing friend who won't let something like  what you believe in get in the way of your friendship.

Me and Bella both hope you enjoyed this entry and we wish you all the happiest of holidays and that for those of you who are traveling to return home safely.

Also, for those of you who were able to celebrate Yule(the pagan equivalent of Christmas), we hope it was a wonderful experience for you. We envy you!! ;) For those of you who would like to enlighten yourselves on what Yule is, here is a website you can go to: http://www.nowpublic.com/world/soon-be-celebrated-yule-winter-solstice.

Reptilia by The Strokes

When Zaylee First Found Out...

My journey started the day I grabbed the Wicked books when I went the movies with Bella and another one of our best friends to see Blades of Glory, but saw Disturbia instead (which I am still kinda mad about since I was forced to watch it)... well was mad about... 'cause if we wouldn't have seen Disturbia we wouldn't have gone to Barnes and Noble (we went 'cause we had extra time to spare before the movie), and I wouldn't have gotten the books... with those two books is where this whole journey started for me, but the journey for me with Bella started the night of her school's extremely boring homecoming dance...

We had gone to Starbucks, and I got a pumpkin spice latte(: We walked out of Starbucks and I started thinking about how Bella was telling me in the car on our way to Starbucks, that she was reading these books that were about witches, but she wouldn't elaborate on it (now i know it's becuase she thought I would think she was weird and she wass still quite timid about the subject of witches for a while even after we established that we both want to study the craft). I tried probing it out of her until finally we were outside of Starbucks, and I remember it was dark and we looked like as though we were draped in a blanket of shadows and I asked Bella about the books and she finally said that she was into the witchstuff and i was like YESSS! so it's not only me and from there it just set off like wildfire...

When Bella First Found Out...

My journey began one day when I went to Barnes & Noble, (because I'd run out of books to read) and came across this series of books called Sweep by Cate Tiernan. I have always been a fan of the supernatural and such and I read the backs of the books and I was immediatly intrigued and bought the first 6 books (they only had 1-6 at the store) of the series that day. I started reading that day and within the next month (it took that long to read them cause amazon.com took forever to deliver them!) I had read the entire series which consisted of 13 books. I was absolutely captivated by these books. I had also developed an interest in Wicca (which is very important in the book) but told no one because I thought they would think I was a freak. Then, as Zaylee said, after my extremely boring homecoming dance that we'd ditched, we both confessed to each other of our intrest in The Craft. It felt so liberating to finally tell someone! And then to have her not only accept my curiosity in this unconventional religion, but to have her understand was so relieving and exciting! I didn't feel crazy anymore for wanting to be a part of Wicca. Then, I got her to read Sweep too, and she was also enthralled by the amazing series (which I strongly reccommend, Wiccan or not). After a couple of months of researching on the computer and deciding that studying Wicca was something I knew I wanted, I told my mom and brother. At first, my mom was really cool about it. I could tell that she was definetly skeptic but she saw how important to me it was, and how happy I'd become and so she took me and Zaylee to B&N to buy some books on The Craft. I was so completely ecstatic! I was terrified of what her reaction would be and now she'd accepted it. I couldn't be any happier... until she told me what she really thought. After a couple weeks, her and my brother made some negative comments and I decided I wasn't going to put up with it anymore, and so I told my mom I was no longer intrested in it (which, of course was a lie). During the last 8 months I've tried to convince myself that my mother was right. I tried involving myself in other religions that she'd be accepting of and content with, but just a few weeks ago I realized that I couldn't keep lying to myself. Wicca is a part of me. I don't care who likes it and who doesn't. I can't change it; I won't change it.

... Then, Zaylee had the idea of a blog... and here we are :)

The Truth by La Rocca

Hello. You may have been drawn to our blog because of its title. Some of you are probably wondering if we're drunks, others are curious as to why the hell we chose the word witches, or maybe you're asking the same question we ask ourselves... Are we witches? Truth be told, we don't know. We're unsure of our religious affiliation... about ourselves. So, we guess you can call us the average teenager... unsure, insecure, confused, and stressing about that new zit on our face. We're still trying to find and understand ourselves, and we're trying to see the beauty in the world around us. We try to see that beauty that most people think is insignificant or just don't notice.

Our "names" are Bella and Zaylee. We're both 15. We both attend a Catholic high school (which kinda sucks considering our situation). We're both in love with The Beatles! (and no we're not druggies; we have a natural high). We both love starbucks (doesn't everybody?). We both love Twilight, a series of books (if you haven't read them go shoot yourself in the foot!). We both love the TV show Scrubs. Also, we're both trying to find ourselves, and we think that the religious and spiritual part of ourselves can be found through Wicca.

So, read our blog and enjoy it or criticize it. We made this blog to let others like us know that they're not alone. It's definately scary not knowing what our religious affiliation is, but we know we'll find it within ourselves sooner or later. Feel free to e-mail us at al.koholik.bz@gmail.com, but we can't assure you that we have all the answers... we'll give you our opinion and just let you know what we think. We hope that those of you who aren't lucky enough to have a best friend or someone who won't judge you so harshly-just because of your religion or choices in life-will find support in our blog... in us.
